Day Thirteen: Very Young Girls | Part 2/4

Background:

Today dives into part 2 of 5 of ‘Very Young Girls.’ Created by Rachel Lloyd, a human trafficking survivor, founder of GEMS, and the author of Girls Like Us.

This is a heavy watch for mature audiences only, and I encourage anyone watching to watch with their own discretion. Although the show will be for mature audiences, feel free to take what you’ve learned and share it through discussion with others - young and old.

Action: Watch Part 2

Watch from the 20-minute mark to the 27-minute mark of Very Young Girls here for free.

If you’re following the entire film, watch until the 46-minute mark.

Action: Talk it out

Consider the following discussion questions and talk through them with your family, team, and send your thoughts to us on social media!

  • When LaSharon goes to the police station and doesn’t get help in retrieving her daughter, how did that make you feel? How can law enforcement do better to help young women in these situations?

  • Scenes are shown from a ‘John School’ where first-time offenders buying sex can attend a class and have their records cleared. From viewing scenes of this class, do you think it is effective? Why or why not?

  • Nicole was sentenced to go to GEMS twice a week in response to her prostitution charges. Why is this a better alternative than jail?

Action: Raise Awareness
