Day Sixteen: Healthy Relationships, What Do They Look Like?

Background:

After watching Very Young Girls and learning about their relationships with their pimps, we must ask ourselves how pimps, or any abuser, can manipulate and control young and vulnerable people so easily. A lack of healthy relationships is a huge vulnerability to exploitation small and large. Support, care, and real love help to show us our value as humans.

Action: Identify what qualities create healthy relationships

healthy vs unhealthy relationship line
  • Think of 3 relationships in your life and place them where you think they belong on the scale above

  • Why did you put each relationship in that spot? What parts of that relationship make it healthy vs unhealthy?

  • What are habits and ways you can communicate with that person to move it closer to the healthy side of the relationship?

Action: Learn from survivors

Check out this blog series, written by Lived Experience Expert Emily Robinson, on how healthy relationships relate to human trafficking.

And most importantly, we have the potential to play a role in advocating and helping survivors and preventing exploitive relationships!
